Mark truly builds one guitar at a time, in other words he doesn't batch build. Not that there's anything wrong with batch building, it's just something he chooses not to do. These photos show some real progress from the raw wood state. The top is shaped and the braces are added, this is where the luthier can have a real influence on the tone. Mark uses a complicated method for dialing in his tone. Known as Chlandi patterns, these were first used many years ago for tuning violins. The patterns are all Greek to me. However Mark has a terrific working understanding of what's what. The middle picture shows the top with the braces. The final shot is one of the top with the Premium, wood tiled, Abalone Rosette. Mark's rosette is really quite striking and yet very understated. As the wood work continues so does the excitement.
